PART I
First, and foremost, Happy Valentine's Day to you all! I hope you all spent it with friends and family. In the spirit of the day, I'd like to leave you with a few thoughts...

First, Love Your Body! Not the way you look, or the way you think you look when you are on the Wii, or the way you feel but your body and yourself. This is a difficult thing for me and sure for lots of you but if we don't love our bodies then we won't be able to succeed and achieve our healthy living goals. When we overeat and undermove, we sabotage all the good work that we do actually do. If we love ourselves, we should do all the good things for our bodies that we can.

PART II
Part III
We got a Wii and a WiiFit last week. Everyone in this house, and everyone who visits is hooked! We plugged it in last Saturday at noon and I think it was on non-stop until at least 10 pm. Aunt Ann played, Jonathan and Joshua played, Jason played, (wow, we have a LOT of J names in this family) and even Dad has gotten on and played. The first day we played, Joshua challenged us to a WiiSports boxing match and before it started he said, "Get ready to be beaten by a child!" And guess what, we were ALL beaten by that child. If that wasn't enough of a shocker, we did the WiiFit and WiiSports fitness tests - I was 44 and 80 respectively the first time. It really was on eye opener as to how out of shape I am. It's not as though I was totally ignorant to what conditioin my body is in but this really shed some light on it.
One of the main criticisms of the WiiFit is that it gives a false sense of fitness. I started using it knowing that I would use it in conjunction with my diet and the treadmill, even though I have been bad and have not used the treadmill once this week. But when I am done wsorking out with the Wii, I am sweating. The next day, I have muscle groups thaat are sore. This would not happen if it wasn't doing at least something for me. I think that if a more fit individual were to use it, it would feel more like a cool game but for us, at least, it's a workout - just ask anyone who does Super Hula Hoops and Boxing!
Well, I hope you all have a happy and healthy weekend and good luck with those numbers on Monday morning. I think it may be picture day here at the Martin house!
