Not the book or the movies but, what I have for myself. They are often so "great" that I end up disappointing myself. This is the case once again.
When we started this journey, I set a weight goal for myself that I wanted to reach by the end of the six months. I wanted to lose 100 pounds by the time the challenge was over. After having a strong first few weeks, I mentally ammended my goal to being down 100 pounds when I went home for Christmas. I realized last week that this was not going to happen, as I am down 65 pounds as of today, and have been in a bit of a funk about it for the last few days.
Intellectually, I know that what I have accomplished so far is great and that this was a pretty outrageous, and practically unattainable, goal to set for myself. But I wanted it. I still want it. I like to see results immediately, if not sooner. I get impatient and bored when I don't see progress in what I'm doing and will eventually give up. This is why I have yet been able to stick with a diet.
I think the difference this time is my level of motivation and commitment. I have also been encouraged by seeing the number on the scale decreasing.

Oh Katie....65 lbs is not small deal....and not everyone can lose that much weight...you have done a wonderful , exciting thing here...and because of you and Chris so many others have done well also...you inspire us....but most important , you can and will take care of you first , and by doing this , you help us. love you MOM
Ok 100 pounds in a short amount of time was a bit much but look how close you are to that goal. Joey weighs in a 67 pounds. you lost a small person!!! Both you and Chris are doing such a great job. Don't lose sight of your goals. They are right in front of you. Can't wait to see you next week.
Katie, I was just playing with your numbers, and you've lost a little over 3/4 of a pound a day!!That's incredible!!!! I'm happy to lose a pound a week!!! Don't sell yourself short by setting impossible goals! I know we all wish we could lose faster, but sometimes faster isn't better. The longer the journey, the more "good eating habbits" will become a normal part of your life. You'll learn more and feel better in the long run. So try not to get discouraged. You're doing great! I hope we can all get together when you're home for Thanksgiving!
Katie... Katie.... Katie...
You have little over 1 month...or. 4 weeks to get to 100 pounds before christmas.... and if you only do 80 pounds before christmas... or even 75.. Hey thats Really good.. Dont be discouraged.. you have a while yet .. You can do it..
