Monday Morning and the Weight Loss Fly Wheel

Isn't it amazing that when you wake up on Monday morning, step on the scale and see the loss you worked so hard for come to fruition. It is like your Birthday & Christmas all wrapped into one. Now, there are two ways this can go. It can either energize you and give you motivation to have another fantastic week or you can abuse the weight loss and tell yourself, "eh... it's just one slice of pizza, plus I lost last week." The choice determines which way you are spinning the fly wheel of weight loss momentum!

When you are "on," and you are doing well every day you can stay motivated. Look at Jess and Serge, they are feeding on their own success. One pound off, two pounds off, you spin the wheel faster and faster, you feel less hungry, you are more motivated to exercise. Success breeds success! The fly wheel gets spun up, pushed along by your positive progress.

But the problem is, the fly wheel spins both ways. Who has had this week? You start out strong, Monday, Tuesday, you're down 3 pounds and then you decide to eat a grinder, just once and you'll be good the next day. When you get back from the grinder, you see there is left over cookies from lunch and you know, one cookie can't hurt. You've just put the brakes on the flywheel! You may not stop the fly wheel with the first grinder, or the first cookies, but before you know you are calling up Brother's Pizza and getting a large sausage and pepperoni and the fly wheel is spinning the wrong way.

I lost 5 lbs this week and my fly wheel is spinning and I feel great. I love how this feels. I cannot wait to get to my spinning class at lunch. I brought in lean cuisines for lunch and I am sure they will be fantastic. Spin your fly wheel - just a bit - and see how it works for you. You already know this, the weeks you are "on" you are really "on" and when you aren't, you know that too.

Why not take this week to focus on your weight loss fly wheel and see if you can get it headed in the right direction?

my fly wheel not only spins on my success at the scale but also when coworkers compliment me. I know you guys all love the positive reinforcement you get when friends give you compliments. good luck with the spinning wheels this week!
