The Little Things


I'm constantly looking for little things to do through out the day to burn calories. Since I work at a desk all day, and rarely take a break except for lunch, I don't burn many calories at work. I work on the 4th floor, and enter thru the basement, so now, instead of taking the elevator, I take the stairs at least once a day...a total of 90 stairs. At first I would have to stop on the second and third floors to catch my breath, but after a few weeks, I could make it without stopping. And, in the course of the day, if I have to see someone on any of the other floors, I always use the stairs.

Recently, Lula, my sister Fran, my brother-in-law Bernie and myself went to an event at a Theater in Conn. As we approached our destination, there was an escalator and a stairway to get to the upper level of the building. Seeing the stairs as a small opportunity to work off a few calories, I naturally took the stairs. I was so happy to see that Lula, Fran and Bernie were right behind me too!
My point is that there are always those little opportunities during the day to work off a few more calories, whether it's stairs, or just getting up and walking around. We just have to make an effort to both recognize those opportunities, and take advantage of them.

You're right about little things and making the best of our oppurtunities. I no longer try to make as few trips up stairs as possible and I feel better because of it.

YUP...we did them twice...once up and then down....half way up I was winded but did not give up...

I hate stairs. They hate me. I want one of those belly bouncer machines.
