What am I Eating?

Ok, so I accepted the challenge, but now what. Over the summer I had a great system going. We ate all whole foods, I planned out every meal and we excercised all the time. I taught summer school gym (because no one else wanted to) and we walked 5 miles a day or jumped rope till we were sick. I was obsessed with my calorie count which was 1500-1600 a day and I had no problem staying on it. I ate veggie wraps daily for lunch, I had oatmeal with bananas for breakfast and yogurt and fruit for snacks. So why is today any different. First I do not have the luxury of walking 5 miles a day. I don't have a tread mill or a safe road to walk and even then it is dark whenever I could walk. I could do excercise videos, but the question would be when and can my hip take it. That is why walking was so good, there was no impact. School startes and then November hit. Concerts up the wazoo and no time for anything, even myself. Weight creeped in. There are my excuses, none good.

As for food, this week has not been great because I needed to replace some of the food we had on hand for the holidays. I was not prepared for an outstanding week. I did give away all of the hot dogs (Rahni won't even eat them anymore) and the Boston Market frozen dinners we used as backup just in case I couldn't make someones lunch. I removed all of the soda, I bought wraps and salad items, I portioned all meat and froze it. That was the good part. I replaced the Boston Market meals with lean cusines (1.88 at shaws this week) because the fact is, sometimes I just don't have time to make lunches. They are not bad and add a piece of fruit or a salad and it is a good lunch. I have made the house a place where we can now focus on a life change.

Will I lose any weight this week? I am not sure. I am sure that I did not gain any. I am sure that I will lose for next week.

Welcome Becky! You've made some great changes for your first week. The first few weeks are hard because you're drastically changing your life style. Keep up the good work and the pounds WILL come off! I would also love to start walking or running, but like you, I don't have anywhere to go....I hate winter!!!! Try jogging in place during commercials while watching TV. At first I could only do around 30 seconds at a time, but I slowly worked my way up. I wear a pedometer every day, and it tells me how many calories I've burned off for the number of steps I've taken. You have a big house, so just walk around the house, and up and down the stairs. I don't know what your problem is with your hip, but for me, icing helps my hips and lower back when I over do it. Just keep moving, and don't give up! You can do it!!!
