Things the weight loss challenge ARE NOT ABOUT: midnight binges, drinking a bottle of wine in one night, drinking wine at all for that matter, more days off from exercise than on, eating whatever one feels like, or 4 pieces of pizza at once.
Things the weight loss challenge ARE ACTUALLY ABOUT: changing our eating habits that got us where we are today, saying, "I've had enough", just doing it now, being active, and being healthy.
I have still been losing weight, most weeks, but not with the same amount of passion or fervor as I once had. I have gotten complacent and that is not acceptable. I was about to make some excuses like, "I've had the winter blahs," and "I've been trying to get over this cold for a month." But the other thing that this weight loss challenge is not about is excuses.
Here are my new week resolutions and what I'm going to start doing differently:
- journal and measure all my food - haven't done this in over a month
- use treadmill 5 days - only used it 3 this week :-p
- wine only on weekend nights
We are also going to buy a Wii and a Wii Fit this week and I am VERY excited to start using that. Here's hoping that I can turn it around this week.

Me too Katie. For the past 4 weeks I've essentially quit. I've got tons of "reasons" but none of them good. I too had a conversation with myself this morning and said I need to eat oranges not devil dogs. I need to eat turkey sandwiches not crispy chicken with bacon, cheese and BBQ sauce. I need to go back to the gym not sit on my behind. I'm ready to have a good week. Keep the insiprational words coming. They really help. Here's to a good week.
I know you can do it Jess! We've done it before and there is nothing but ourselves getting in the way of us doing it again!
Wii Fit is not a good answer. My boys went to get physicals and the doctor asked if we used Wii Fit. I said we hadn't bought it yet. She told us not to. She said that using the Wii is not the best way to exercise and that it gives people a false sense of working out. She said walking, treadmill, or any other activity is better. I was suprised by this. She said it was a nice idea, but doesn't go as far as people think it does.
Sorry Anonymous, but I don't agree with your doctor. I know 4 people who are using Wii Fit and they are doing great. ANY movement is good, and Wii definately makes you move. One man I know has been doing Wii for 4 months. He has severe asthma, and couldn't walk up a flight of stairs without gasping for air. Since doing Wii, he has lost over 40 pounds, and he now walks up 90 stairs every day without getting winded. The other 3 people I know who use Wii are also losing weight and getting stronger. Of course nothing can compare to taking a walk outside in the fresh air, but living in New England, we don't have that option this time of year. There's too much ice and snow, and the extreme cold isn't good for the lungs. So in my book, Wii Fit is a perfect solution!
I agree Yvette. Any activity will help someone who has difficulty being active. Especially when you use it in addition to any other exercise routine you doing - treadmill, walking or exercise video.
