Being Fat...

So what is fat anyway?

I am 6 feet and 280 lbs, so my BMI is 38. What is yours?

  • If your BMI is 19 to 24.9 you have a healthy weight.

  • If your BMI is 25 to 29.9 you are considered to be overweight and may incur moderate health risks.

  • If your BMI is 30+ you are considered to be obese. Obesity is linked to increased risk of cancer, heart disease and other health problems.

So I have to weigh 180 lbs to be in the right range. What do you have to be?

This weight loss challenge is not about sex appeal. This is not about feeling better about ourselves. (Those are side effects.) This is about the difference between life and death. Are you eating yourself to death?

This is a side view of an artery, the vessels that carry the oxygen rich blood to your vital organs.

This is a fatty liver.

This is the foot of a diabetic, who did not choose healthy eating.

Kidney Failure

You can be mad at me for showing these to you. You can get angry with me when I call you out. I'm not innocent. I struggle. This week has been terrible. I still drink too much Diet Coke. I don't need any scotch. I am trying to choose health.

When I give you a hard time, its because I love and care about you. When I push, its because I wish somebody was pushing me. I will not give up. I will get to 180. What will you get to?

Those pictures are gross, but it's reality. Sometimes we need a piece of reality to keep us on track. So thank you Chris for one of the most disgusting picture I've ever seen (the foot). I was just thinking of getting a snack, but after seeing those pictures, I think I'll go puke....just kidding. Seriously, thanks for the kick in the butt. I needed it. We had our office party yesterday and I couldn't resist the home made chocolate chip cookies! Hopefully all the shoveling I'm doing will work off all the extra calories! Katie, you're lucky to be in Georgia!!! I HATE WINTER!!!!!!
