The Meat, ohhhh... the Wine.... the Decadence

We have a guest this week, and we have still tried to stay on our diet. Katie was down 6 lbs for the week and I was down 4, but today, she is only down 4 and I am only down 1. The culprit was Fogo De Chao. You can see it from the road here.

For those that have not been to a Brazillian Steakhouse, let me make this very clear, it is not a diet food place. (You may be disappointed in us for going there, but our guest was here and we like to show people a good time. At this moment, I am eating radishes and lettuce as a snack.) Anyway, first you have all you can eat salad bar, with great stuff like asparagus, cheese, tomatoes, bread, potato salad, macaroni salad, hearts of palm, olives, smoked salmon, sun dried tomatoes, and more. Now after that is done, you start with the green and red sides of the cards.

Here is how it works, when you flip the card to green, the meat comes to you, and oh boy, is it a lot of meat. The gauchos walk around with cuts of meat, slice off a piece for you and then go back and cook it more. It does not end, they have prime beef, braised ribs, top sirloin, bottom sirlion, filet mignon, filet wrapped in bacon, pork sausage, pork loin, leg of lamb, and rack of lamb. It is all cooked to perfection. The meat is so good.

So we had a huge meal, drank and basically ignored our diet. Why am I torturing you with this? Because, I feel guilty. I pigged out and I hurt my week. What I am hoping is that we will still lose weight this week and if we do then that shows that you can err and slip up ONCE and still get the job done. I am not saying to go out and pig out on meat, or eat a decadent meal, what I am saying is that one meal or one thing is never the cause. It's not one glass of wine. It is not that last ice cream sandwich. How much you gain or lose in a given week is based upon the sum total of your behaviors in that week. This includes that extra glass of wine, or laying on the couch instead of taking a walk, but it also includes the light lunch, leaving off the mayo and using mustard instead and that extra walk up the stairs. I have a strong feeling that this week will be better for all of us. Only one more day until weigh in, make sure it is a good one. Remember, no eating after 8:00 PM on Saturdays.
